“If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly”    (Romans 12:8 NLT).

teach, inspire, motivate - a collage of isolated words in vintaI have 30 years’ experience in researching, writing, reviewing, and editing for the US Department of Defense, the US Intelligence Community, and academia. Sure, I could be editing for corporate clients, but working with individual authors is more satisfying than running changes through layers of bureaucracy.

After being a military intelligence analyst for three decades, my ability to question, research, and point out inconsistencies is second nature. The intelligence analysis and writing courses provided by the military, as well as the critical thinking skills I’ve learned, are just as applicable in the work I do for you. Editing is more than adding a comma here and checking for the right homonym there. I look at your writing on a deeper level. I study what makes sense, what doesn’t, and why. I point out issues that might make your intended audience scratch their head in confusion or frustration, like when your character isn’t acting within character, and you’ve not shown a reason. I make sure your information is logical and flows well.

I have an AS in Communications Applications Technology from the Community College of the Air Force and a certificate in copy editing from the University of West Florida. My BA in History through American Military University explores Christianity in the Western world. I’ve also completed several focused editing courses through The Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network.

On a personal note, I’m married and have two children, two dogs, and two cats. The greatest part of my job is meeting authors and helping them share their stories. God continues to bless my life, and I’m excited to see how He works through others.
